LIMA__The Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost 3-0 at Bath in a non-league match on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Pirate girls fell to 3-4 with the road defeat. Bath improved to 3-3 after the win.

Bluffton mustered three shots, none of which were on goal. Bath directed eight of its 11 shots on frame.

Pirate keeper Miller made five saves, including a Bath penalty kick try in the 27th minute to keep the deficit to 2-0 at intermission.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys soccer team lost a 2-1 battle to visiting Liberty-Benton in a non-league match on Thursday, Sept. 10 at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirates fell to 4-3-2 with the tough defeat. Perennial power L-B improved to 6-2-1 after securing the victory.

All three goals were scored after intermission, with the defensive battle tied 0-0 at halftime. 

Weston Johnstone netted the Bluffton goal. Pirate keeper Ryan Blount was credited with seven saves.

Memberships, sponsors, donations needed to create museum

The Bluffton Ohio Historical Society (BOHS) is among 300 entities taking part in Open Doors, a state-wide celebration of Ohio history, heritage and preservation. BOHS will have access to the former Lawson's Dairy building at 314 N. Main St. just in time for the Open Doors event.

The society is purchasing buildings at 302 and 314 N. Main St. owned by Gary Kirtland and most recently occupied by Stratton Auto Group.

FROM BLUFFTON UNIVERSITY__Forum presenter Raj Biyani, chief innovation officer at Goshen College, shared his research exploring the rapidly changing role of artificial intelligence and what it means for organizations, education and future leaders.

FROM THE BLUFFTON LIONS CLUB__William H. Kose, MD, JD, will speak to members of the Bluffton Lions Club at noon on September 15 about cancer and new methods of identification and treatment. This program is open to the public.

FROM ODNR__Hunters in Ohio’s Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) surveillance area have additional dates this season to pursue white-tailed deer. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife announced that archery hunting season begins Saturday, Sept. 12, and early gun hunting season is open from Saturday, Oct. 10 to Monday, Oct. 12 in this specific area.
