The Bluffton School Board met on Monday, June 20 with Roni Kaufmann chairing the meeting. The agenda with items for approval is available here.
FINANCIALS
Paula Parrish provided the Treasurer’s Report. The final appropriations for 2025-2026 were shared and these final expenses will close out the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
The Service Fund was set up for 2026-2027 at $5,000. This fund reimburses school board members for any expenses they may incur while serving in their role representing the school district.
The Board approved the 2026-2027 appropriations in the amount of $26,098,657.53.
CONTRACTS, ASSIGNMENTS, RESIGNATIONS
Jeff Richards (who has been hired as the Bluffton Elementary principal) has resigned as the Head Wrestling Coach and Weight Room Supervisor effective August 1. Britney Webb has resigned her position at the high school cafeteria. Steve Phillips was introduced and will serve as the new 5th Grade Science Teacher. He once held a similar position in Bluffton Schools 23 years ago and will be coming from Shawnee Schools.
David Fett will be the High School Assistant Boys Soccer Coach. The list of Substitute Teachers, Educational Aides, Secretaries, Cafeteria Workers, Custodians and Bus Drivers for 2026-2027 was approved. The rates for the positions are as follows:
● Substitute Teachers will be paid $110 per day
● Substitute Educational Aides will be paid $14.50 per hour
● Substitute Secretaries will be paid $16.00 per hour
● Substitute Cafeteria Workers will be paid $14.00 per hour
● Substitute Custodians will be paid $16.00 per hour
● Substitute Bus Drivers will be paid $22 per hour
HEARING OF IDEA AND TITLE 1 FUNDS
Superintendent Greg Denecker presented that $74,000 will be earmarked for these programs for 2026-2027 academic year.
APOLLO REPORT
Jeremy Scoles reported that there are currently 130 students on the 2026-2027 Apollo waiting list. He noted that many changes occur in the summer, which may allow for these students to enroll.
