Pirate girls tennis knocks off Celina

BLUFFTON __The Bluffton High School girls tennis team defeated visiting Celina 3-2 to celebrate their home opener on Monday, August 10.

The Pirate team improved to 2-0 with their second 3-2 victory. Bluffton took one singles match and swept both doubles contests to secure the win.

Pirate senior Willow Angel won at first singles 6-3, 6-1.

Senior Kate Klinger and fellow senior Ari Bowling won their first doubles match handily by a 6-1, 6-1 score. 

Junior Peighton Bowers and sophomore Leah Hoffman also won in straight sets at second doubles 6-3, 6-2.

Senior Bekah Rehm fell short at second singles 6-1, 7-5 in a hard-fought match. Freshman Hope Luginbill battled for almost two hours in a close third singles bout before falling 6-3, 6-4.

The next match for the Pirate girls is Wednesday at Bath at 4:30 p.m.

Bluffton also hosts Lima Senior on Monday, August 17.
