Thomas "Tom" J. Basinger served in the U.S. Army
Thomas "Tom" J. Basinger, 78, passed away August 11, 2026, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Tom was born March 13, 1948, in Lima to the late Marc and Helen (Glancy) Basinger. On June 23, 1973, he married Sarah Steiner Basinger, who preceded him in death on December 18, 2025.
Tom graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School and had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at the Lima Ford Engine Plant and was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Bluffton. Tom was known for his gentle spirit and admiration for others and was always quick to praise them.
Tom is survived by several cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Marc and Helen Basinger and his wife, Sarah Basinger.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
