Pirate girls soccer loss vs. Wapakoneta

WAPAKONETA__The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost a 1-0 defensive battle to a strong Wapakoneta squad in a non-league showdown on Tuesday night, August 18.
Wapak improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Pirate girls start out 0-1.
The Redskins scored the game’s only goal in the eighth minute. Wapakoneta freshman Maddy Herbst found the back of the net on an assist from Aubrey Prenger with 32:34 remaining in the first half.
The Redskins got off 16 shots compared to seven by the Pirates. Wapak earned five corner kicks compared to one by Bluffton. Tristan Pohlman posted the shutout in goal for the Redskin girls.
The Pirate girls are back in action for their home opener vs. Anna (0-0) on Thursday evening, Aug. 20.
