Pirate boys soccer nipped by Liberty-Benton

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys soccer team lost a 2-1 battle to visiting Liberty-Benton in a non-league match on Thursday, Sept. 10 at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirates fell to 4-3-2 with the tough defeat. Perennial power L-B improved to 6-2-1 after securing the victory.

All three goals were scored after intermission, with the defensive battle tied 0-0 at halftime. 

Weston Johnstone netted the Bluffton goal. Pirate keeper Ryan Blount was credited with seven saves.

Eagle juniors Brahlen August and Taden Troyer tallied a goal apiece for L-B. Troyer and senior Jario Colina recorded one assist each. Eagle keeper Kooper Leatherman made one save. 

Bluffton hosts WBL foe Kenton (2-4-1) next Thursday night, Sept. 17 at Steinmetz Field. The Wildcats lost to Ottawa-Glandorf 2-1 Thursday.
