OTTAWA__The Bluffton High School boys golf team finished 10th in the 13-team Div. II sectional tournament at Moose Landing Country Club in Ottawa on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Senior Ethan Fifer led Bluffton by shooting an 18-hole round of 45-42=87. He finished in a five-way tie for 24th place amid the 65-player field.

Senior Coby Dailey carded a 44-45=89 to tie with two others in 32nd.

Junior Gibson Meyer posted a 45-46=91, and also ended up in a three-way tie at 37th.

Freshman Landon Byers shot 48-50=98 as the fourth Pirate scorer, tying for 52nd.

Freshman Caleb Fifer contributed a 46-54=100 round to tie with two others in 54th.

The Pirates totaled 365 strokes in the tournament. Ottawa-Glandorf won the team title decisively with 303 strokes, 29 shots ahead of second-place Napoleon (332).

The Pirate linksters finished two shots ahead of Kenton (367), Bath (369) and Fostoria (415).

Upper Sandusky came in third (339) to nose out Liberty-Benton fourth (341) by two strokes for the last district spot. Only the top three teams and top four individuals from non-qualifying teams advanced to the district tournament next week.

Junior Alex Bellman of Ottawa-Glandorf won the individual sectional title by firing a 36-36=72 round. Sectional champion O-G boasted the top three individual finishers.
