Prothro 28th of 164 in boys meet

VAN WERT__The Bluffton High School boys and girls cross country team competed at the annual Ohio Health Invitational meet at the Van Wert Fairgrounds course on Saturday, Sept. 26.

BOYS
Pirate sophomore Atticus Prothro was the top Bluffton boys finisher. He crossed the finish line 28th with a time of 18:04.7.

Junior Levin Essinger came in 38th at 18:31.9. Junior Toby Clevidence ended up 51st in 18:57. Sophomore Micah Dimarco finished 92nd with a time of 20:09.06.

The Bluffton boys were one runner short of the necessary five to field a team score.

Host Van Wert captured the 13-team boys meet title with 50 points. Crestview came in second place at 72, with Shawnee third at 88. 

Crestview’s Derek Young took first in the 164-runner boys race in 15:45.

GIRLS
The Bluffton girls cross country team finished ninth in the 12-team competition.

Sophomore Tessa Tarplee finished 31st, posting the top Pirate girls showing with a time of 22:22.9.

Sophomore Maebry Monfort came in 45th in 23:32. Junior Zaeda Hermiller ended up 60th in 24:29.5. Senior Tala Gipson finished 91st in 27:16.7.

Sophomore Jora Boisvrt was the fifth Pirate scorer. She came in 112th in 33:49.3.

Maeleigh Evans of Lincolnview won the 113-runner girls' meet in a time of 19:43.

Ottawa-Glandorf won the girls meet with 34 points. Host VW came in second, 20 points behind with 54. The Pirates tied for ninth with LCC at 265 points.

Bluffton finished seven points ahead of Canterbury, In. (272) and 21 in front of Waynesfield-Goshen (286).
