Bluffton University relaunches Leadership Development Program with NetVUE grant support
MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University relaunched its Leadership Development Program (LDP) with an inaugural Leadership Development Retreat bringing together more than two dozen students and staff for a day of reflection, connection and leadership development.
The retreat marks a new chapter for the longstanding program, which is being reimagined for today's students as part of the university's strategic plan. Funding for the retreat and the 2026-27 program year is provided through a NetVUE Vocation across the Academy grant.
Bluffton alumni Andrea Flack-Wetherald '10 led the retreat, introducing students to the Mindful Improv Thinking framework for brave conversations. Through guided activities and time together, participants explored vocation in leadership and considered who they are, who they want to become and how they can bring new tools to their leadership roles.
Students representing organizations and athletic teams across campus participated in the retreat, creating opportunities to build relationships and learn from one another.
“We are grateful that the NetVUE grant has made it possible to renew this longstanding program for Bluffton's student leaders,” said Kathy Dickson, senior director of advancement and special projects. “Having Andrea return to campus to lead this retreat gave students an opportunity to reflect on their own leadership, strengthen their connections with one another and develop practical tools they can bring to their roles across campus.”
Through the renewed Leadership Development Program, Bluffton aims to equip students to lead with greater self-awareness, engage in meaningful conversations and put their values into practice in their campus communities.
