A work in progress: Ada upcycler David Devier acquired two large 1940s garage doors without a plan for what to do with them. "They have 12 windows each, making them very interesting, he notes.

"When I brought them home, Mrs. Devier said that we could make an arbor wall for our patio.... I immediately knew that they would make a wonderful arbor wall and set to work to build them into a framed unit with a trellis-type top section." Some window panes were removed to allow vines to grow through the openings and reduce the wind load.

Local and regional performers are preparing for Bluffton's Play Music on the Porch Day (a.k.a. PorchFest) on August 29. This worldwide movement encourages people to spend the day outdoors, visiting with neighbors while playing or listening to music.

Carolyn Sue (Ungericht) Corle, 95, of Van Wert, died on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Vancrest of Van Wert.

She was born on June 18, 1931, in Connersville, Indiana, to Frank and Eva Ungericht, who preceded her in death. On June 28, 1951, she married Jack Edward Corle, who also preceded her in death.

She retired from Ohio Northern University, where she served as Director of Off-Campus Housing. She had formerly worked for the Hamilton County School District and had been a doctor's assistant in Ansonia, Ohio.
