Girl Scouts in Bluffton are ready for annual cookie sales, which fund local scouting activities throughout the year. On January 7, Bluffton scouts from 5 local troops (kindergarten to 8th grade) met at the Bluffton United Methodist Church for activities to prepare them for cookie sales.

You've walked past this sight many times, but can you name the date the Bluffton Post Office was constructed? See the second photo for the answer.

Bluffton Icon founder Fred Steiner has a story about Forgotten Bluffton that reveals the Diller country school at 7370 Grismore Road had some exceptional graduates.

"The Diller country school in northwest Richland Township had two rooms, which was unusual for country schools. But, it was most famous for the fact that from six to 10 of its graduates entered the medical profession."

The Village of Bluffton council will hold a Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. on January 10 with the attached agenda and supporting materials.

Council meetings are held on the 3rd floor of Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

 

Temperatures on Saturday, Jan. 8, froze large sections of the Little Riley Creek. And, it appears that the waste water drain at the Grove Road bridge became a shelter from the storm for at least one outdoor animal, perhaps a cat.

The inset photo on the right shows the same pipe 24 hours later, as temperatures rose, ice melted and we assume the animal high tailed it or dry ground. Meanwhile, on other sections of the stream, other wildlife made their own impressions on the snow.
