Icon viewers are invited to a tree walk on the Bluffton University campus. Meet at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, in front of Marbeck Center. Joanne Antibus will lead the walk. Participants may admire and identify trees. The walk is open to the public.

 

 

Bluffton Public Library will hold a fall food drive from Oct. 21 to Nov. 18 for donations to the West Ohio Food Bank.

Suggested donations include: canned meat, canned fruit, canned soup, canned vegetables, boxed instant potatoes, gravy mix packages, pasta and rice.

Donors may place food items in the food barrels provided at the library.

Ken Heffner, director of student activities at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., will reflect on the relationship between the church and popular culture in a Bluffton University forum Oct. 28.

Speaking at 11 a.m. in Founders Hall, he will address “Why Should We Care About Arcade Fire? A Christian Approach to Popular Culture.” His presentation is free and open to the public.

Bluffton University’s Sauder Visual Arts Center will host “Time/Line,” drawings by Boston-based artist Kevin Townsend, beginning Oct. 27 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery.

The exhibit is free and open to the public through Nov. 25. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. on opening day, Oct. 27.

Bluffton High School whipped Western Reserve Academy (6-1) in a non-conference Saturday night game 61-13.

Auditions for the eighth annual Ohio Has Talent! competition will be held Nov. 14 and 15 in Van Wert.

The top 20 acts will take part in the Feb. 28, 2015, Ohio Has Talent! show at Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert. All entertainment talents are welcome – single and group acts – especially those other than singing and dancing, to provide variety for the show.
