Thanks to a $450 donation from First National Bank, Bluffton’s residential holiday lighting contest prize money totals $800 this year.

First National’s donation is assisted courtesy of Kasasa, its rewards checking account partner.

“The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will award eight prizes this year, thanks to the contribution from First National Bank,” said Fred Steiner of the chamber. “We’ve created five new lighting categories and hope this encouraged residents to really make Bluffton a blaze of lights.”

In all, 299 student musicians, representing 33 area teachers, will be performing in Ribbon Festival, held Saturday, Nov. 23, at Bluffton University’s Mosiman and Yoder recital halls.

"Ribbon Festival is made possible by the Middle West Ohio Music Teachers Association. Ribbon Festival provides the opportunity for a positive performance experience for students of any age or skill leve," said Krysti Schey, of Krysti's Music Studio, Bluffton.  

"Each registered student performs one piece (preferably memorized) in a one-hour time block recital setting," she said.

Town and Country Flowers, 121 S. Main St., Bluffton, invites Icon viewers to stop in and visit its Christmas Wonderland, according to Connie Kruse.

She reminds customers that fall home decor are still available.

Ten Thousand Villages, 115 S. Main St., Bluffton, now has handcrafted Holy Land sands candleholders, according to Aphaphanh Nussbaum, manager.

The candleholders are handcrafted in the West Bank and are available for $34 each.

 

New Leaf Garden Center, 0395 State Route 235, north of Ada, will hold its Christmas open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16.

Open house specials include drawings for $25 gift certificates.
A Christmas decorating demonstration takes place at the Ada store from 10 a.m. to noon. Then, it is repeated at the Kenton store from 1 to 3 p.m.
