Rev. Robert Paul Avers, 79, husband of Joanne, recently of Bluffton, Ohio, died surrounded by his family, at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012.

Rev. Avers was born on July 18, 1933 in Cleveland to the now deceased Paul H. and Melba L. (Zerger) Avers. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1951; Capital University in 1955; and the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary, Columbus in 1959. He was ordained in the presence of his home congregation of St. Paul Lutheran Church , Clyde in June 1959.

Pamela K. Hall, age 53, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at 7:53 p.m.at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

She was born Dec. 16, 1958 in Jackson, Michigan to William and Rosa (Stacy) Minix, who preceded her in death. On May 28, 1997 she married Scott E. Hall who survives in LaFayette, Ohio.

Pamela worked at Community Market in Bluffton, Ohio for 9 years. She attended Hardin Northern High School. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren in the backyard.

Nov. 1

  • Police responded to a car deer traffic crash at the intersection of SR 103 and SR 235.
  • A Jackson St. Resident reported that her 19 year old daughter was missing.  After looking into the matter officers were able to speak with the daughter on the telephone and found her to be ok.

The Bluffton University men’s basketball team used a strong run late in the first half en route to a 73-65 victory over the Kalamazoo College Hornets on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012. It snapped a two-game losing streak as Bluffton improved to 2-4.

The Beavers were led by Dustin Kinn (Alvada/New Riegel) who scored 18 points to go along with eight rebounds. Freshman phenom Thayne Recker (Arlington) also chipped in with his first career double-double performance of 15 points and 13 rebounds.
