The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four.

In order to pick up a box, persons must register by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, by calling 419-384-3905. Boxes will be available for pickup on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church, State Route 12.

The next Maple Crest Senior Living, Bluffton, Sunday buffet is  Nov. 11, according to Daren Lee, director of Maple Crest.

The menu includes:
• Apricot glazed turkey breast
• Ham

• Sweet potato casserole
• Mixed vegetables
• Cranberry bread
• Pumpkin pie
• Coffee and iced tea.

There’s a lot to do in Bluffton this weekend. In fact, you’d think Christmas is around the corner.  Here are events from The Icon calendar:

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, NOV. 9-10

Town and Country Flowers
Town and Country Flowers, 121 S. Main St., Bluffton, announces a store-wide Christmas open house, according to Connie Kruse, of the store.

With the 2012 presidential election fresh in our minds, here's a description how Bluffton watched the 1916 presidential election. This is a reprint from the book "A Good Place to Miss: Bluffton Stories 1900-1975." The person telling the story is Milt Sprunger.

Larry Maynard of Leipsic and a member of the Bluffton University buildings and grounds staff adds purple to the Beaver on the 50 yard line on the university football field. Maynard is applying latex ceiling paint and says it takes about 20 gallons of paint to prepare the field for a game. Bluffton closes its season against Defiance on Saturday. Click for a video.
