Fred Rodabaugh presided over his final complete Bluffton council meeting as mayor on Dec. 19. Although he will convene the first meeting in January he will pass the reigns of village government to Eric Fulcomer, mayor-elect, once the bills are paid.

Rodabaugh's involvement in Bluffton village government as a council member and mayor goes back to the 1970s. The first meeting of 2012 is Monday, Jan. 9. At that time Fulcomer will resign as a council member and will be sworn in as mayor.

A visit from the Wise Men

English Lutheran Church on Grove Street has a new Christmas light display this year. Several members of the congregation assisted in creating the scene, which depicts the birth of Christ with the visit of the Wise Men. Click here for Bluffton Christmas Eve and Christmas day church schedules.

Bluffton congregations will hold several special weekend services in observance of Christmas. Here is the list of services made available to The Icon.

How many persons from out of town visit Bluffton between Nov. 26 and Jan. 1 to see the Blaze of Lights and cruise town looking at residential lights?

Take a wild guess. No, we don't have the answer, but here's one small glimpse that indicates the traffic. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce provides free maps to assist out-of-town guests interested in viewing our lights.

The Bluffton school board said "no" to Ohio House Bill 136 on Monday.

The board passed a resolution on Monday opposing Ohio House Bill 136 (School Choice) and stated its opposition to any legislation that seeks to transfer public money to support private education.

Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St., has all its Christmas books on sale for one-half price through December, according to Paula Unrau of the store.

Christmas items include inspirational, religious, children's, decor and craft books.

The store will be closed from noon, Saturday, Dec. 24. Check the store's Facebook page for weekly specials through January 2012.
