Bettye Jeanne Vroman, 90, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Sunset Village in Sylvania.

The daughter of Robert and Rowena [Herr] Lewis, she was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Bluffton. She was a graduate of Bluffton High School and Bluffton College where she majored in Music and English. She taught Music and English at the high school level for several years.

She married Robert Vroman in 1948 and moved to Toledo where he purchased a small ice cream company. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and the Inverness Club.

Florence Duffield, 98 died at 1:25 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Area residents and businesses are invited to the Customer Appreciation Day celebration on Friday, Sept. 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Bluffton office located at 102 S. Main St.

Free pulled pork sandwiches, brats and Dietsch Brothers' Ice Cream will be served. Attendees may enter to win the grand prize or one of five $25 gas gift cards.

Pandor council received a quote of $21,000 from Tuttle Construction, Lima, to repair its EMS building. The announcement was made at the Sept. 13 council meeting.

The Pandora Village Council met in Regular Session on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Building with Mayor, John Schlumbohm, presiding.

The meeting was opened with Pledge of Allegiance.

Gregus Smith of Schoolhouse Electronics, Bluffton, has donated a Smart Board to our the Hilty Memorial Home Child Care Center, according to Joy Reichenbach, administrator.

"We will implement the use of the technology called SMART Board interactive whiteboards instead of traditional chalkboards," she said.

The SMART Board is an interactive whiteboard which allows touch control of Microsoft Windows computer applications. The SMART Boards will be used for daily class lessons.
