We work hard through a 30-plus year career. We contribute to 401k or look forward to that pension. Retirement happens and then we feel freedom and bliss right? Not necessarily.
Recent studies have shown as much as a 40 percent increase in depression after retirement. That daily grind we put in for years was difficult, sometimes we put in blood, sweat and tears while working long and tedious hours. However, that job gave us a sense of purpose and meaning.
The West Central Ohio Chapter of the Compassionate Friends, a support group for families after a child dies, meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month. The next meeting will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22 at Union Chapel Missionary Church, 4869 Ada Road, Lima, Ohio.
The program will be "Tell Us." Participants are encouraged to bring some photos and memories of their child and a friend or relative if they wish.
The Bluffton American Legion congratulates the three Bluffton High School students who will be attending the Ohio American Legion Buckeye Boys State and Girls State in June 2022.
Jonah Rehm and Kameron Caughlan will be attending Ohio American Legion Buckeye Boys State at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Olivia Matthews will be attending Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Girls State at the University of Mount Union Alliance, Ohio.
Senior artists and graphic designers from Bluffton University are showcasing their best work in a combined exhibit “In Third Person.” Leslie Diaz, Bluffton, Ohio; Olivia Hattery, Kenton, Ohio; and Shelby Herrmann, Greenville, Ohio, are featured in the exhibit, which runs through March 25 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Bluffton University’s Sauder Visual Arts Center.
The artists will be available to discuss their work during a reception 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 20, in the Sauder Visual Arts Center.
The Bluffton High School boys basketball team succumbed to a late Wayne Trace run and lost 45-42 in the Division III district semifinals at Lima Senior Thursday, March 3.
Wayne Trace tightened its defense and ended the game on a 19-6 run to post the comeback win. The Raiders limited Bluffton to just two points in the fourth period.
