Bluffton University

Stadium lights have been installed at Bluffton University’s Salzman Stadium, and the university has set new outdoor lighting and noise guidelines for the facility as its usage increases.

“The University wants to maintain a safe environment for our students and a positive relationship with all neighbors adjacent to the Salzman Stadium athletics complex,” said Robin Bowlus, vice president for advancement and enrollment management. “The stadium lights will not be turned on before 5:30 a.m. and are to be turned off no later than 10 p.m. unless the contest for which they are in use has yet to conclude. The sound system will not turn on until 8 a.m. and is to be turned off no later than 9 p.m. unless the contest for which it is in use has yet to be decided.”

Bluffton University is partnering with HomeTown Ticketing for all Bluffton University alumni, athletics and music/theatre events where tickets are required.

Bluffton University will hold a Summer Prospect Camp for baseball players on August 14, 2022. The program is for players in grades 10-12.

The invitation describes the event as "an important prospect identification tool for the Bluffton University baseball program. While serving to identify top prospects, it also allows the prospects to spend a day with our program and gain valuable exposure to our staff and players, while performing on Memorial Field, one of the best fields in the region."

Bluffton University has been recognized for excelling in the areas of student engagement, teaching, community and successful outcomes by Colleges of Distinction, a guide for college-bound students. Recognitions include being named a 2022-23 College of Distinction, Ohio College of Distinction and Christian College of Distinction. Bluffton’s business and education departments have also been recognized as leading programs of distinction.

Regular hours resume on July 11.

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees met in June for their annual spring meeting. The board continued its year-long efforts on implementing best practices for engaged boards, met with the university’s new co-source fiscal partner, Cliffton, Larson, Allen (CLA) officer and learned about student-retention efforts.

Trustees also took several actions including promoting faculty and recognizing retiring board members.
