The Bluffton University softball team moved to 15-11 overall and 7-1 in the Heartland Conference with a crucial sweep of the Lions at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The Beavers moved to 15-11 and 7-1 in the HCAC, taking over first place in the conference thanks to a Franklin sweep of previously undefeated Manchester University.

The Bluffton University Track and Field program traveled to the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University to compete in the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday, April 6. The meet was comprised of several Division II and Division III schools from around the area. The Beavers ended the day with several qualifying standards as well as personal bests.

 

Bluffton University’s baseball and softball teams will do their part to help “Strike Out Cancer” at their home games on Tuesday, April 16.

The softball team will host Manchester in a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m., while the first pitch of the baseball game against Defiance will be at 4:15 p.m. at Memorial Field. Special pink shirts will be sold as part of the American Cancer Society fundraiser, and cookout food will be available.

Four Bluffton University musical ensembles will come together Friday, April 12, to present the annual Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. in Founders Hall. The concert is free and open to the public; donations will be accepted for program costs, with any excess funds going toward music scholarships.

The evening will begin with jazz from the university’s Jazz Ensemble, directed by adjunct instructor Paul Baransy. The ensemble will also perform on two numbers with the University Chorale, conducted by Dr. Jon C. Peterson, an assistant professor of music.

May Day court named

Bluffton University has announced its 2013 May Day court, which was elected by the student body and will be honored during the annual May Day celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, on the Centennial Hall lawn. The rain location is Founders Hall.

The court includes King Zeke Tracy and Queen Leah Waltermyer, both seniors, along with senior escort Brent Schroeder, senior attendant Lisa Baglien and junior chairpersons Neil Macke and Katie Steenrod.
