The Bluffton University women’s basketball team fell to Anderson University on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. The Beavers dropped to 10-11 overall and 5-9 in the Heartland Conference, while Anderson improved to 6-15 overall and 5-9 in the HCAC.
The Bluffton loss, which was a mirror reversal of the contest in the Sommer Center three weeks ago, damaged the Beavers' chances of earning a berth in the Heartland Conference as Rose-Hulman upset HCAC-leading Transylvania for a two-game lead with just four to play.
The Bluffton University men’s basketball team fell victim to an Anderson University team that welcomed back HCAC-leading scorer Phil Hogan after missing the last month with a hand injury. Hogan missed 13 of his 17 shot attempts, but hit one that mattered, the game-winner as the buzzer sounded.
Although he was not in the starting lineup, Hogan played 37 of 40 minutes and handed out a game-high eight assists. The Beavers fell to 9-12 overall and 5-9 in the Heartland Conference, while Anderson improved to 9-12 and 5-9 in the HCAC.
For several Bluffton University students, fall semester 2012 included exposure to different cultures, internship opportunities and visits to historical sites.
Five of them, all seniors, recounted those experiences off campus during a Bluffton Forum on Jan. 29.

“Ethics and Integrity in the Age of Social Media” is the title of Smith’s talk, set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in Founders Hall. The forum is free and open to the public.
Dr. Mary Ann Sullivan is a prolific photographer as well as a professor emerita of English and art history at Bluffton University, where she taught from 1972-2006.
An exhibit of her photographs of library architecture is joining the permanent collection in Bluffton’s Musselman Library, which will mark the donation with a reception with Sullivan from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10.
