Tobias Buckell, a New York Times best-selling science fiction author and Bluffton University graduate, will be the featured speaker Tuesday, Aug. 28, as Bluffton welcomes the class of 2016 to campus at its annual opening convocation.
With faculty in regalia looking on, about 280 new first-year and transfer students will be introduced during the ceremony, which begins at 10:45 a.m. in Founders Hall.
Sept. 1 is Game Day @ Bluffton
Bluffton University will host Game Day @ Bluffton on Saturday, Sept. 1, when the Beavers meet Kenyon College in their football season opener at 1:30 p.m. at Salzman Stadium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children; children under 5 are admitted free.
Before the game, a picnic-style lunch will be available in a tent at the stadium from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $6.
Bluffton University Head Cross Country Coach Karen Brandt has high expectations for 2012 after a season in which 11 dedicated student-athletes set the tone one year ago in her first year at the helm.

As the Bluffton University men's soccer team enters year two of its rebuild under Head Coach Rick Nussbaum, they Beavers sport a roster that includes as many newcomers (20) as his entire first team was comprised of in 2010.
