Brianna Gillig is the women's basketball player of the week in the HCAC.

The junior forward  scored 41 points against the Manchester Spartans, shattering the former Bluffton record of 33 and topping the HCAC mark of 40.

She finished with 10 rebounds in an 86-68 win at Manchester.

For the week, Gillig averaged 23.5 PPG and 7.0 RPG. She hit 15-of-25 from the field on Friday while knocking down 9-of-10 at the line.
 

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) partnered with Special Olympics Indiana to hold the first Trivia Night on Sunday, with the team from Transylvania University claiming the inaugural title.
 
The event welcomed over 70 participants from all 10 member schools, with Student Athletes and Special Olympic Athletes teaming up for a night of fun.

After five rounds of trivia and a final Jeopardy round, the Pioneers of Transylvania claimed the title with a perfect score of 50 points.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the results of the Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field preseason poll, with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology taking first in both the men’s and women’s polls in a vote amongst league coaches. 

On the men’s side, Rose-Hulman captured the first place slot with a commanding 100 points. Hanover College finished in second with 85 points. Manchester University placed in third with 76 points, while Earlham College and Franklin College finished in a tie for fourth with 57 points apiece to round out the top-five. 

The Bluffton University volleyball team stayed undefeated with a pair of sweeps over visiting Anderson University on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021. Anderson dropped its first two matches of the season, while Bluffton improved to 9-0 (2-0 HCAC) on the year.

Remi Bower of Deshler, and member of the Bluffton University volleyball team was named the offensive player of the week in the Heartland Conference.

Bower led the Beavers to a pair of 5-set wins over Earlham on Friday night. She finished with 26 kills in her 8 sets for 3.25 KPS. She also led the Beavers with 8 aces, while adding 3 blocks and 14 digs.

The defensive play was Amber Miller of Hanover.

After 2 wins against Earlham

The Bluffton University women defeated Earlham College on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021. It was a close contest but the Beavers held on for the 58-49 win, moving the Beavers to 9-1 on the year.

The visitors started off the game slowly, falling behind 15-9 at the end of the first quarter. Junior Brianna Gillig (New Riegel) fueled the Beavers in the first with four early points and a steal. Emma Saltzman (Arcadia) cleaned up the boards as well with two rebounds.
