Four charities benefit from this initiative

Melinda Bowden's PromoHits, Bluffton promotional products company, has committed to donating 5% of its total product sales from January-June 2019 to four local charities.

The initiative, PromoCares, provides the opportunity for local businesses that purchase products from PromoHits to designate which of the four charities they’d like to support.

There is no extra cost to the business – the donations solely come from profits PromoHits gains from the sale of its products.

Second-generation owner; shop started by his dad, Tom, in 1983

Bluffton has a new second-generation business.

Doty’s Auto Repair and Alignment, open in 1983 by Tom Doty, will become Doty’s Auto Repair and Wheel Alignment, LLC, owned and operated by Tom’s son, Mike on May 1.

“The business will continue offering all the repair and wheel alignment services and great customer service we’ve always offered,” said Mike. “The only thing that’s changing is that Dad is stepping away from the business.”

Will also continue as Bluffton chamber director

Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs president Dick McGarrity introduced a new executive director, Paula Scott, at the April 12 Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting.

The new half-time appointment will be coordinated with Scott’s other half-time job as CEO of the local chamber of commerce.

In fact, Scott simply flipped over her badge to show that one side says BCE and the other says Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. Scott previously served as communications director for the business incubator and has operated her own digital marketing business.
