New heated tobacco devices are not a safe alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes or using electronic cigarettes, according to a new study.
This study directly compared the lung cell damage caused by e-cigarette and cigarette use to this new type of device, which heats solid tobacco to create a nicotine vapor that the user inhales. The conclusion? The heated tobacco vapor from these new devices was highly toxic to healthy lung cells — just like cigarette smoke.
Mercy Health in partnership with Ohio Means Jobs will hold a hiring event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center auxiliary conference room, 718 W. This clinic offers free screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, and lipids (please fast for 12 hours prior to your arrival if you wish to participate in the lipids screening). Participants may speak with Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.
