Richard Jordan retires as Main Street insurance agent

Fifty years to the day he open an insurance agency in Bluffton, Richard Jordan announced his retirement from that life-long career.

It was Jan. 2, 1961, when he began insurance agency work at 105 S. Main St. It was Jan. 2, 2018, when he retired.

Rachel Davis, owner of Studio Silhouette, 103 N. Main St., Bluffton, will share her story about how she started a business in her home and eventually made the leap to a Main Street storefront.

She is this week’s featured speaker in Bluffton Center for Entrepreneur’s Talk Back series. The free session is from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, at Twisted Whisk Café, Main Street.

Gallery 323, 323 N. Main St., Bluffton, announces its winter hours, according to Kat Luginbuhl, store manager.

The gallery will be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"We feature more than a dozen local artists with works in paintings, ceramics, fiber art, jewelry, glass, photography and handmade cards," she said.
