Ten Thousand Villages reminds engaged couples that they may sign-up for a gift registry at the Bluffton store. 

And, currently a wedding gift special is being offered, according to Aphaphanh Nussbaum, manger. The special is a pair of celebration goblets, which are silver-plated brass in a velvet keepsake box. The goblets are handcrafted from India.

Blanchard Valley Health System's Corporate PR & Marketing Department has been announced as one of two finalists for “Best Health Care Communications Team” in the nation through the prestigious 2014 Ragan Health Care PR & Marketing Awards.

And, during business hours this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., discounts are listed on many items.

The clearance sale on Saturday offer discounts of up to 50 percent on many of the items in the store.

The business was sold by Bob Wilch, current owner, to Dr. James Gideon. It is the intention of the new owner to close the business after Saturday. The business will reopen in a few weeks after a revamping of the merchandise. 

Area vehicle owners take note: Effective July 31 Kirtland’s Auto Repair, 302 N. Main St., will no longer repair vehicles.

Kirtland’s Auto Sales, in the same location, will continue to sell automobiles. Gary Kirtland has owned the business since 1985.

In other words: Kirtland’s is out of the repair business – but remains in the car sales business.

Up to now 10 percent of the business has been car sales and 90 percent repair. “We want to see it at 100 percent car sales,” said Kirtland.

Do you like your sweet corn on or off the cob?

No matter. You may have it both ways if necessary because it is officially in season. Those familiar red barn markets are open for business and that means Suter’s Produce of Pandora is up to their ears in it.

Jerry Suter told the Icon that “we are now picking sweet corn and it is excellent.” He added that other items available in the red barn markets are tomatoes, peaches, green beans and an assortment of garden veggies.
