The yet to be named Bluffton historical organization has issued the following invitation for a 7:00 p.m., March 8 meeting on the third floor of Bluffton Town Hall.
"Items to be discussed include an official name for the group, a review of the recent visit to the Delphos Canal Commission Museum, and determining how individuals may become involved in areas that they are interested in and/or gifted in.
On a daily basis, the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center serves its members with a wide variety of activities and services. But the center also frequently invites the entire community in for activities such as its annual garage sale, which is scheduled for later this month:
Thursday, March 30, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Friday, March 31, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 1, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Monday, April 3, 9:00 a.m.-noon
The sale involves many volunteers, who may at the Senior Center office.
The following activates are canceled during the sale; bridge, exercise class, euchre, dominos. Meyer notes, "We will try to make room to have Bingo on Monday, April 3. If we have enough volunteers cleaning up."
LIMA– The Ottawa River Coalition will be hosting their annual Good Friday Fish Fry on April 7 at the Allen County Fairgrounds from 11:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
The community is invited to support watershed education efforts by enjoying a meal and participating in a silent auction.
Bluffton Boy Scout Troop #256 will be out Saturday morning, March 4 placing food collection tags on all the doors in Bluffton.
They will be back out on Saturday morning, March 11 to pick up donations and take them to the Bluffton Food Pantry. Scouts will then help sort all the donations by type and date.
Please have all donations placed outside by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11.
Dr. David Strittmatter, ONU Assistant Professor of History will present The Ray Brown Project at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 in the Allen County Museum’s Folsom Auditorium.
Ray Brown (1908-65) was born in Alger in Hardin County. He pitched for the legendary Homestead Grays of the Negro Leagues and was posthumously inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 2006. He died in the 1960s and is buried in Dayton, Ohio.
