13 Bluffton musical groups perform on Saturday

You may watch this year’s Bluffton Music Boosters chicken barbecue concert from your living room on Saturday.

The annual performance by 13 Bluffton music groups from elementary through high school is pre-recorded.

Bluffton Senior Citizens' Annual Garage Sale, 132 N. Main St., will hold the first Bluffton garage sale of the year, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

Hours are: 
Thursday, March 25 – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday,  March 26 – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, March 27 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Monday, March 29 – half-price sale, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Masks are required. Only the front door will be utilized to control number of people in building. Limit 20 shoppers at a time. The sale includes housewares, craft items, books, toys, antiques and more.

Check out earliest spring wildflowers and see different sparrow species

The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm will  conduct a spring sparrow kike on Saturday, March 20, the first day of Spring 2021.

Beginning at 10 a.m., participants will look for the earliest spring wildflowers. As March 20 is also World Sparrow Day, hikers will see how many different species of sparrows can be spotted and submit our findings to ebird, one of the world’s largest biodiversity-related science projects.

The Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Service Group will hold a chicken barbecue fundraiser from with curb pick up 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 24, at Bubba C BBQ, 158 N. Jackson St., Bluffton.

Proceeds will support the purchase of a handicap accessible van to help MHCO elders attend area doctors’ appointments and family related trips that would not otherwise be possible.

With the barbecue fundraiser held last year along with support from area businesses, churches, and others the Service Group has raised close to $30,000.

March 27 event includes a virtual concert

The Bluffton school Music Booster chicken barbecue takes place Saturday, March 27, from 4-6 p.m. as a take-out only event.

Tickets are available in the middle school and high school offices. Tickets are  $8 until March 19, when the price goes $8.50.

There will be a virtual concert that evening. The dinners are being provided by Bubba C’s and include one-half chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans and a dinner roll.

The dinners need to be picked up at Bubba C’s location, at the corner of Jefferson Street and Jackson Street, Bluffton.

“Conservation and Agriculture: Where Land Meets Water” will premier Feb. 26 on Zoom • Collaboration between Blanchard River Watershed and West Central Ohio Land Conservancy

The Little Riley Creek is featured in a new film premiered later this month, created in part by the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership (BRWP), according to Lauren Sandhu, watershed coordinator.

“Conservation and Agriculture: Where Land Meets Water” will premiere at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26,  on Zoom.  The video will be released for public viewing after the premiere.

The video project is a collaboration between BRWP and the West Central Ohio Land Conservancy (WCOLC). It features farmland, conservation practices and waterways in Allen and Hancock Counties.
