At 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, individuals interested in Bluffton history will meet on the 3rd floor of the Bluffton Town Hall to discuss the formation of a Bluffton historical society.

The event was announced by Dan Groman, who is one of several Blufftonites who have renewed the idea of forming a local historical society and, ultimately, creating a Bluffton museum within the village.

Groman told the Icon that interest in a Bluffton Historical society has been simmering for decades. Visits to other Ohio communities and discussions with historical societies have led to this January meeting.

ArtSpace/Lima will host the annual Juried Photography Exhibition from January 7-February 4,  2023. The exhibition features artists from around the region with over 100 works on display. Photographers from Ada Icon and Bluffton Icon readership areas include Wendy Chappell-Dick, Jake Collins and Rae Staton.

The  photography exhibit has cash awards for Best of Show, First, Second, and Third Place, Black and  White and Color Award, Youth Category, and an ArtSpace Award.

Dan Groman has announced that the newly established Bluffton Historical Society will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 on the 3rd floor of the Bluffton Town Hall.

Anyone interested in being a part of this new organization is encouraged to attend.  This will be an informational and planning meeting for 2023.

New Year's caroling with the Swiss Community Historical Society returns to the Bluffton-Pandora area, after a three-year break. You are invited to join in the singing at Mennonite Memorial Home, Maple Crest and Willow Ridge.

Carolers will sing the traditional German carols composed by schoolteacher David Rothen nearly 200 years ago. Singing will be in both German and English, and music will be provided.

You are encouraged to join the group whether or not  you know the songs; they are easy to learn. Please note that masks are required in all of the buildings to be visited.

Singers will rehearse briefly in the lobby of Mennonite Memorial Home at 410 W. Elm Street in Bluffton, at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022. Singers are asked to arrive early to allow for the required COVID screening for entering the building.

Next, the group will go to Maple Crest and Willow Ridge on Augsburger Road west of Bluffton for further caroling.

This event is sponsored by the Swiss Community Historical Society of Bluffton and Pandora, www.swisshistorical.com
