2,500-square-foot area dedicated to exercise and fitness activities

Mercy Health Fitness Studio opened today (Aug. 16) inside Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road.

The 2,500-square-foot studio is in the upper level, the former mezzanine area, of BFR. Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director, said that’s Mercy Health’s gift of $10,000 enabled the fitness studio to be realized.

Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, announces the official opening of the Mercy Health Fitness Studio, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director, and Dale Gisi, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s president.

The fitness studio is an area within BFR dedicated to exercise and wellness activities.

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center helped fund the renovations of the 2,500-square-foot fitness studio, which will house exercise equipment and fitness classes. The studio enhances the offerings at BFR, which includes sports trainings and leagues.

Bluffton Family Recreation released a fall schedule filled with many new program choices for youth and adults, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

Among new programs include a Nerf darts night, outdoor movie, two kids’ nights out and a December youth basketball tip-off festival.

In addition, four 4-week sessions of youth programs are offered from Aug. 27 to Dec. 21.

1-K on Aug. 18, plus registration for flag football, coed volleyball, U6 soccer

Flag football, U6 soccer, Summerfest 1-K and adult coed volleyball are all coming soon to Bluffton Family Recreation, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR director. Here’s what you need to know about the August registration deadlines:

Summerfest 1-K
Can you believe at 1-K? It’s at noon, Saturday, Aug. 18, and the route is a beeline from Parkview on South Main Street all the way out to Southgate Lanes bowling alley. There’s a $20 registration fee and all proceeds go to BFR. A registration form is attached at the bottom of this story.

BFR campers make their owns pizzas at Luke's

Wish we could all sign up for Day Camp at Bluffton Family Recreation this week.

The campers took a trip to Luke's and created their own six-inch pizza snacks.

Kaycee Rowe, a 2018 Bluffton University graduate, is the lead counselor for BFR summer camp. Each week is a new theme.

The camp is open to 5- to 12-year-olds. It's held Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students can sign-up for one week or all weeks.

Games are from Sept. 6 to Oct. 18

Bluffton Family Recreation is signing up teams for its fall adult coed volleyball league, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

Games are set for Thursdays from Sept. 6 to Oct. 18. Team fee is $150 with a minimum deposit of $50 due by Aug. 26. All games are played at BFR.
