Bluffton resident J.D. Yoder coaching ONU "football" team vs. Notre Dame

It's ONU versus Notre Dame in football - and the Polar Bears are coached by a Bluffton resident.

Sort of.

Ohio Northern University engineering students under the direction of Bluffton resident, J.D. Yoder, professor and chair of mechanical engineering, along with Sami Khorbotly, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, have created a team of robotic football players.

Maple Crest residents Larry Burkholder, Jean Ann Szabo and Joanne Niswander presented a concert of several classical works at the senior living community on March 15. Click for more details.

Maple Crest hosted a concert featuring three of its talented musician-residents on March 15.  Larry Burkhalter, playing the violin, was accompanied by pianists Joanne Niswander and Jean Szabo. Burkholder's daughter, Karol Crosbie, served as the Emcee for the evening. 

Burkholder, a university music professor, symphony conductor and long-recognized violinist, was pleased to discover that Niswander and Szabo, also experienced musicians, were willing to work with him on several complex pieces.

Ministerial Association Good Friday activities start with Cross Walk

The Bluffton Area Ministerial Association has organized its traditional Good Friday activities for the Bluffton community.

On Good Friday, March 29, all are welcome to the annual Cross Walk. This year the walk begins at English Lutheran Church at 11:30 a.m.

From there the walk proceeds to:

• St. John's United Church of Christ,
• Bluffton Presbyterian,
• First Mennonite,
• First United Methodist
• and ends at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mustard Seed Cafe accepting Easter Sunday dinner reservations

Mustard Seed Café, 560 N. Main St., Bluffton, is accepting reservations for Easter Sunday. Dinner is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The menu features:
• Appetizer plate
• Asparagus soup or Luxembourg salad
• Glazed ham or herbed chicken breast in sauce
• Smashed red potatoes over mustard greens
• Lime ginger carrots
• Mustard Seed cheese cake with rhubarb strawberry compote

Jessica Brockert February BHS student of the month

Jessica Brockert, a Bluffton High School senior, is the February BHS student of the month.

Jessica carries a 4.000 grade point average, is in Math Club, Latin Club and Art Club. She is a member of S.A.D.D. (Students Against Drunk Driving) and is in the cast of the BHS musical "Alice In Wonderland." She is also a member of Youth for Christ.

 

Jessica received the OSU-Honda Math Medal, and is taking Calculus 2 at Bluffton University as a post-secondary option. She anticipates attending Ohio State University to study psychology and hopes to eventually become an EMT.
