117th "Messiah" performance Dec. 9 in Founders

Bluffton University will present its 117th performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken.

Dr. Jon C. Peterson, an assistant professor of music at Bluffton, will conduct the Bluffton Choral Society and the chamber orchestra. Soloists are Keyona Willis, soprano; Sandra Agans Krueger, mezzo-soprano; Joshua Wheeker, tenor; and Darrell P. Jones, bass.

Looks like a Christmas card image

Christmas brings out the artist in people - and here's an example. This is a photo of the Christmas tree in the Maple Crest lobby. The Icon took some artistic license and played with the photo. If you'd like to see the original photo, before we played with it, click here.

The forest from the trees

The Icon photographer decided to play around with Photoshop. Here's the Christmas tree in the lobby of Maple Crest. Then, with a bit of camera magic, the tree is transformed in a color outline. 

You may chose which version appeals to you.There are times when the itch to experiment is so strong that, well, it just happens.

Check out all the BHS activities in December

TOYS FOR TOTS
Our annual Toys for Tots drive is currently underway.  Please bring in a new, unwrapped toy and place it in the designated box in the High School office until Dec. 10.  

BHS MUSICAL
Anyone interested in trying out for a singing or speaking part in the spring musical, Alice in Wonderland, needs to sign up and pick up information outside of the choir room. 

Auditions are Dec. 11 and 12.  See Mrs. Zink if you have any questions.

Lots of Middle School activities in December

December is a busy month at Bluffton High Middle School. Here are some of the activities taking place. 

LIL' PIRATES
Lil' Pirates will begin this Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. in the HS gym.

JH BASKETBALL/CHEERLEADER MCDONALD'S ORDER
Please have your McDonalds order form and money to Mrs. Phillips by Friday, Nov. 30.
