Town and Country Flowers won second place in the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce downtown holiday window decorating contest. Here's a look at the window. First place is Citizens National Bank and third place is The Curling Icon.

Enjoy Christmas at the Hardin County Farm Dec. 15

"Christmas at the Farm" will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Hardin Historic Village and Farm, located on Fairground Road in Kenton, according to Linda Iams, Director.

Activities include sleigh rides by the Black Swamp Buggy Club, a performance by the Peaceful Strings Dulcimers, an appearance by Santa and plenty of refreshments. 

Everyone is welcome.

Thomas Gingrich selected Second Team Academic All-America

Bluffton University senior Thomas Gingrich (Goshen, Ind/Goshen) has been named Second Team Academic All-America by CoSida.

Gingrich, a biology and pre-medicine major with a 3.89 GPA, was named First Team Academic All-District honoree as a junior. A four-year starter at right tackle for the Beavers, Gingrich was also a three-time Academic All-HCAC performer.

Bluffton residents are invited to enter this year’s Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce residential Christmas lighting contest. You may win some neat cash prizes.

Here’s how it works:

The contest is open to any residence within the Village of Bluffton corporation limits.  The corporation expanded this year, so, for example,  residents on Dixie Highway south to and Southgate Lanes are now eligible to enter the contest.

Rhonda Hogrefe named Findlay branch manager at Citizens National Bank

Citizens National Bank (CNB) has named Rhonda Hogrefe as Findlay branch manager.

In her position, she is responsible for branch oversight, including sales and financial performance. She will focus on coaching her team in best practices for sales and service and will continue her duties as retail/mortgage lender for the Findlay office.

Hogrefe, a Findlay native, has worked in the banking industry for 10 years.She began  at Citizens National Bank in 2008 as a customer service representative, adding lending to her duties in 2011.

George Lehman: "Howard Raid's legacy still felt in business at Bluffton University"

 

Much of what faculty and students in Bluffton University’s business program do today has roots going back 50 years and more.

Student internships and academic collaboration with the local business community, for instance, date to initiatives introduced by the late Howard Raid during his more than 30 years as a business faculty member, beginning in 1947.

Dr. George Lehman, chair of Bluffton’s Division of Business Studies, discussed Raid’s legacy Nov. 30 in his annual lecture as the Raid Endowed Chair in business.
