Obituaries

Rosemary "Rose" Smith, 59, of Bluffton died at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was born on April 21, 1954 to the late Harry W. and Hildegarde (Schmogil) Klay in Bluffton. Rose married Douglas D. Smith on June 24, 1978, and he survives.

She is also survived by a brother-in-law, David (Brenda) Smith of New Albany; two nieces, Angela (Luke) Slater of Johnston, and Katrina Couch of Columbus and best friend, Sue Fett of Bluffton.

Harold E. Andrews, 90, died at 2:30 a.m. June 21, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System.  He was born July 15, 1922, in Bluffton to the late Paul and Clara (Fett) Andrews.

He attended the Phillips one room school until fourth grade. He later graduated from Beaverdam High School in 1940. After graduating from high school he helped farm on the family farm until he entered the U.S. Army where he was a communications operator serving with the 505 PIR 82nd Airborne Division E. Company 2nd Battalion.

James W. Gay, 78 died at 3:10 a.m. June 13, 2013, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton. He was born Sept. 3, 1934 in Lima to the late William J. and Nellie (Hariff) Gay. 

On Nov. 10, 1956 he married Dorothy Lou Rice and she survives.

Mr. Gay retired from Bluffton Precast and then worked at Wal-Mart, Lima. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Walter L. Hartley, 63 died at 10:55 a.m. June 10, 2013, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born Jan. 13, 1950, in Hancock County to the late Leroy and Helen (Snyder) Hartley. On Oct. 13, 1991 he married Linda Dillon and she survives.

He had worked as a maintenance man at 1 Amazing Place, Findlay.  He had previously worked at Centrex and had done construction work for W.R. Manley both of Findlay.

Carol Ann Reigle, 79, died June 2, 2013, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.  She was born Oct. 12, 1933 in Findlay to the late Harold and Margaret (Gordon) Frontz.  On March 28, 1954 she married Clarence D. Reigle and he died June 15, 2001.

Mrs. Reigle retired from Marathon Oil Company, Findlay, and had been a cook at Mt. Cory Middle School.  She was a member of the English Lutheran Church, Bluffton, where she was active in the Women’s Bible Study Group. She belonged to the “Gathering Basket” Herb Society and helped form the CCL Club, Bluffton. 

Carol A. Reigle, 79 died June 2, 2013 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.
