Obituaries

Brent A. Kiene, 38, passed away August 14, 2022, at Lima Memorial Hospital. Brent was born August 23, 1983 in Findlay to Robert and Jane (Kahle) Kiene.

Brent was a 2002 graduate of Bluffton High School. He also attended Apollo Career Center for Construction. He recently worked for Quality Welding and Fabrication in Lima. He was a lifetime member of the Cairo Sportsman’s Club and the NRA. Brent enjoyed farm related activities and construction. He especially loved trap shooting, fishing with his children and feeding livestock. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his children.

L. Marie Meffley, 91, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Frieda House of Willow Ridge, Bluffton, Ohio.  Marie was born in Montcoal, West Virginia on March 6, 1931 to the late Arlie and Lenora (Dravenstott) Milam.

Larry Joe VanAtta, 67, passed away August 17, 2022 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.  Larry was born October 18, 1954 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio to the late Leon and Joyce (Wolfley) VanAtta.  

Larry graduated from Bluffton High School in 1974 where he held records in wrestling and pole vaulting.  He was a mechanic and auto body worker. 

Norma J. Frankhauser, 84, passed away August 12, 2022 at Willow Ridge-Frieda House in Bluffton.

A graveside service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

A graveside service for Sam Reichenbach and Tracy Hosler will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Thompson Cemetery, Bluffton.

Rev. Jeremy Mann is to officiate. 

Linda (Beechy) Houshower, 70, died on August 5, 2022 at University of Michigan Hospital after a short struggle with a rare, untreatable cancer.  Born December 27, 1951, to the late Orin and Marie (Ramseyer) Beechy, she grew up in Wooster, OH where she was an active member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church and the YMCA where she taught swimming.  During high school years, she was a counselor at Camp Friedenswald where she developed her love of nature and met her life partner, Hans Houshower.
