Tree trimming and pruning program March 12 at public library

The Gardener's of the Bluffton/Pandora Area will hold a program on tree trimming and pruning. The program is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, at the  Bluffton Public Library lower level.

An expert from Tawa Tree Co., Ottawa,  will talk about the proper way to prune and trim a tree, both the techniques involved and the best tools to use.

The program is free and open to the public.

Spring ILR classes offered to retirees start in late March

 

Bluffton University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR), an educational program for retirees, is offering nine courses on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays this spring, beginning March 25.

Each course costs $35; the cost to take three or more is $100. Registration and, if applicable, course fees are due at the time of registration. Most classes will meet in the ILR classroom, located in Shultz Hall of Riley Court on campus.

Bluffton University offering R&R for Women on April 6

 

Women can learn about tools for better living on Saturday, April 6, when Bluffton University’s Women’s Council hosts the fourth annual R&R for Women conference.

Bluffton alumnae and a current student will be among the presenters during the conference, titled “Staying Strong: What’s in your toolbox?” Hours are 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Centennial Hall—site of the morning sessions—and the new Sommer Center for Health and Fitness Education, where the afternoon session will be held. Lunch will be in Marbeck Center.

Murdered aid worker’s friend to show film at Stutzman Lecture Hall

Longtime mission worker Jonathan Larson will be at Bluffton University on Thursday, March 14, to show the recently released film “Weaving Life” at 8 p.m. in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. Bluffton’s campus ministries office is sponsoring the event, which is free and open to the public.

Larson is featured in the film, a documentary about the life of his friend, Dan Terry, and Terry’s family. Terry spent more than 30 years devoted to the people of Afghanistan before he and nine other humanitarian aid workers were assassinated in August 2010.

Jankovic Ensemble next in Artist Series on March 21
