Food boxes available for P-G families for March

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for the month of March for households in the Pandora/Gilboa School District. The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four.

In order to pick up a box, you must register by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 25 by calling 419-384-3905.
Boxes will be available for pickup on Saturday, March 30 at 11 a.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church located on State Route 12.

Chicken BBQ at Pandora United Methodist

There will be a Chicken BBQ Dinner on Sunday, March 17 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church, 108 E.Washington St. (Rt 12).

Tickets are $7.50 per person (dine-in or carry-out). For ticket information, call 419.384.3782.  Some tickets will be available at the door.

BVHS Offering Scholarships to Area Students, BVHS Associates

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) is offering educational scholarships to individuals pursuing health care careers. High school seniors entering college, current college students and BVHS associates are eligible to apply.

If you like political drama, you're in luck. It seems like just yesterday the news was filled with references to the fiscal cliff. Now, coming to theaters everywhere, is "sequestration." Look for more political confrontation to unfold as sequestration gets under way.

What exactly is sequestration?

Relay for Life "quarter auction" March 15 at middle school

Bluffton's Relay for Life will hold a "quarter auction," at the Blufffton Middle School cafetorium on Friday, March 15, according to Lynda Best. The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. 

The auction includes:

• Mary Kay 
• Thirty-One 
• Celebrating Home 
• Pink Zebra and
• Tastefully Simple, who will each have items on display and will donate items for the auction.

University baseball players go bald in solidarity with young cancer victims

It was a buzz-a-thon for a good cause. On Feb. 27, about 40 Bluffton University baseball players and coaches, with the help of haircutters from The Curling Iron, went bald to show they care.

Having already raised more than $6,100 since December for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation—which funds research for potential childhood cancer cures—the Bluffton baseball Beavers took their support a step further on Wednesday, having their heads shaved in solidarity with young cancer victims.
