Middle School cookie bakers cover unpaid lunch fees

In this season of giving, most of us have a shopping list for family and friends. Ten girls in the 6th grade at Bluffton Middle School set their sights on a bigger circle.

The girls decided to make and sell more than 60 dozen cookies to help their classmates with overdue lunch charges. Over 110 students in the elementary and middle school have been helped by their donation of $900.

In a letter addressed to Bluffton Exempted Village Schools, the girls said, "We hope this will spread cheer and benefit some of the students in need. 'Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give.'" The letter was signed by Evie Boyles, Piper Culver, Ari Goings, Leah Granger, Morgan Martini, Adalynn Rettig, Madelyn Sterrett, Anya Thompson, Bella Walters and Kaydence Welch.
