Andrea Hines Williams, a graduate of Bluffton High School and daughter of Lisa Hines of Venedocia and James Hines of Bluffton, recently graduated from the College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. On campus, Hines was active in the Academy of Student Pharmacists, Northern Christian Fellowship, Christian Pharmacy Fellowship International and the Student Society of Health Systems Pharmacists.

Roger Hoffman, plant manager of Peerless Ohio Glove, went to work on June 11 just as he had for the past 15,000 days, or so.

That’s 41 years on the job in the same building with the same company.

Most viewers have switched jobs several times, but not Roger. Asked if he thinks of himself as the “ultimate Baby Boomer” because he works for the same company he started with in 1973, he answers: “No!”

“I actually have coffee every morning with guys I know were also at the same job close to, as long, or longer than me,” he says.

Three Cory-Rawson High School students received their State FFA Degrees in Columbus on May 2, 2014. Megan Ritter and Ian Moser will be starting their senior year at Cory-Rawson this fall. Brent Warren is a 2014 graduate and will be attending Eastern Kentucky University this fall.

John and Esther Spaeth will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 15 with an open house hosted by their children at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jenera from 2-5 p.m.

They were married there by Pastor Donald Laude on June 15, 1964. John and Esther (Smith) were neighbors who attended Trinity. They had their first date after being on a Luther Society picnic committee together.

Go fish!

Over 220 Maple Crest residents, staff members, and their families turned out to fish at the Maple Crest pond on June 5. They also enjoyed a hot dog supper on the grill.

Luther Shetler blasted the starting note for the derby on a shell horn and the first catch of the day was moments later by Richard Lasko.

Others followed suit, with Mathias Klausing catching the longest fish of the day at 20 ½ inches, Elaina Helser catching the shortest fish at 2 ¾ inch, and Madie Treglia catching the most fish (eight).
