The day started at minus 4 below, the weather couldn't have been better for a Klondike Derby.
Two young Bluffton Boy Scout Troop 256 teams scored well against generally older competition at the annual Camp Berry Klondike Derby on Jan. 22.
Fifty-seven teams entered the derby. Bluffton's teams, the "Pit Vipers" finished 39th, and the "Fire Extinguishers" finished 45th. Bluffton teams included scouts aged 11-13, who did very well for their age.

Imagine yourself at the Bluffton High School commencement for the class of 2028. Chances are good to excellent that there will be several girls named Mya and Grace. There will be several boys with middle names of James (we counted 10) and many first names starting with the letter "J." For example, you'll find Jackson, Jacob, Jonah, Julius, Joshua, Jordan and so on.
You were born in California and have lived in Arizona and probably some other very warm places. How did you end up in Northwest Ohio?
That's where Bluffton University happens to be. I came here for the opportunity to work on the campus, not for the weather or the scenery. If only I could convince the trustees to relocate it to the Southwest...

Megan Sycks, daughter of David and Linda Sycks, Bluffton. Megan is a member of the BMS choir and band. She participates on the 6th grade quiz bowl team. She attends Bluffton Presbyterian Church and is in dance at Cindy's tap on Wood Dance Studio.
