Discolored water problems on Grove, Lawn and Poplar streets don't seem to go away. J. D. Yoder and Mike Edmiston of Grove Street asked Bluffton council on Monday to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.
Yoder showed samples of water from his faucet from today - the water resembled the color of cider. Edmiston showed particles of rust from his water and shared photos of discolored sinks caused by the rusty water.
Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, told council that the discoloration problems on these streets are persisting and even seem to be worsening.
Bluffton Exempted Village Schools announced its 2011-2012 program year policy for free and reduced-price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch.
Each school office and the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.
The Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines will be used for determining eligibility. Children from families whose annual income is at or below the Federal Guidelines are eligible for free and reduced price meals.
In the eyes of Bluffton's police golf carts on the golf course are simply golf carts. Golf carts on village streets will soon be recognized as vehicles. That means golf cart drivers will abide by all state laws governing vehicles.
The laws include seat belt requirements on all golf carts. It includes car seats for youngsters. Council passed the first reading of the ordinance on July 11.
Following suite with the Bluffton school administrators and Bluffton certified staff, the Bluffton school non-certified employees agreed to a wage free for 2011-12.
The action took place at the June 23 school board meeting.
The non-certified staff was the final negotiating group with the school board this year. Several other significant pieces of board action took place.

The regularly scheduled Monday, June 27, Bluffton council meeting has been cancelled.The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be on Monday, July 11, at 8 p.m. at the Bluffton Town Hall, Third Floor Community Room.
