September 2021 weather week 2 from Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

Your appearance on one of Bluffton pathways will be counted Monday through Sunday September 13-19. This is the tenth annual “use count” of the Bluffton pathways, which takes place in May and September

This week’s pathway count includes 29 local volunteers. Pathway users will see those volunteers parked near various intersections in the village in two-hour shifts counting walkers, bikers, joggers who used the pathway.

Two local residents are working with the Bluffton parks and recreation committee to design a disc golf course at the Village Park. Evan Steiner and Grant Mumaugh, friends and disc golf enthusiasts, approached the Village of Bluffton about putting in the course and have since received approval from town council.

Installation of the front nine holes is tentatively scheduled for Fall 2021, with the back nine slated for Spring/Summer 2022.

With 45 out of 59 votes, most Bluffton Icon viewers (at least those who bother to take polls) preferred to stay home for our most recent holiday weekend.

September 2021 weather began with remarkably beautiful days, as shown by a summary of week 1 from Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

Northwest Ohio extension offices are noting "an unusual number of reports about fall armyworm outbreaks particularly in forage including alfalfa and sorghum sudangrass, and in turf. Certain hard-hit fields have been all but stripped bare."

The infestation can affect crops and lawns. Fall armyworm does not overwinter in Ohio.
