At the Bluffton Lions September meeting, the board reported the following:
Blaze of Lights parade will feature a Model A parade vehicle and the high-wheel bike for the Lions Club.
Community meal to be December 1 at the Senior Center.
Peace Poster contest will be ready to judge by November 15.
Estimated date for the County Line Road Pathway construction is March or April 2023. The State Route 103 pathway will start in May 2023. A capital fund raising campaign with the goal of raising $90,000 will be held for the 103 pathway.
COLUMBUS, Ohio—October 1 marks the start of Ohio’s first annual Ohio School Safety Month.
The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) developed the theme "Know School Safety, Know Your Role – It’s Everyone’s Responsibility" for October's activities.
“Students, staff, parents, and guardians all have an important role in promoting school safety by following safety procedures and reporting concerns,” said Emily Torok, OSSC Executive Director. “It is important to balance sufficient building security with a healthy, nurturing school environment that reassures students that although there is a possibility of violence occurring at school, the probability of a school experiencing a high-profile violent act is extremely low.”
The Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission (LACRPC) has received federal traffic safety funding in the amount of $46,200.00 from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) for Federal Fiscal Year 2023 to fund a Safe Community Grant.
During the federal year October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023, the LACRPC will target reducing the incidence of traffic crashes that all too frequently result in serious injury and even death.

"Eastern monarch butterflies are now flying through Ohio on their way from summer breeding areas to overwintering sites in Mexico.
Monarchs may travel 50 to 100 miles per day, making this one of the most impressive migrations in the animal kingdom. The journey may take them thousands of miles before they reach their destination."
