We wondered how long it might be until someone with a 45817 zip code snatched up this plate. We've seen 48577 and 45816 driving around town, but never 45817 - until today.

Bluffton voters overwhelmingly approved a one-quarter percent income tax levy, unofficially 556 for and 248 against on March 6. The yes votes means the village will use the revenue collected over the next 15 years for water and sewer capital improvements.

The tax will start in January 2013, just as the current one-quarter percent tax on the town hall comes off.

The Bluffton Lions Foundation unveiled the gem at its March 6 lunch meeting. Here's how it can be yours. Raffle tickets to win the vehicle will be sold now until Sept. 29. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5.

All proceeds from raffle sales go to various charities across northwestern Ohio, according to Dick Ramseyer of the Lions Foundation. This is the third year of the Corvette give-away.

Looking at the weather recordbook, February 2012, didn't follow the pattern. Here's some figures on the weather provided by Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

The 2012 average temperature was 33.7 (normal average is 27.2). The 2012 precipitation was 2.16 inches (normal is 1.9). The 2012 snowfall was 8.7 inches, all in the first 15 days of the month.

February's maximum temperature of 69 on the 29th brought some plants out of hibernation. The monthly low was 10 on Feb. 11th.

One of Bluffton's most important decisions of the decade will be decided on March 6. Bluffton voters will decide the fate of a proposed one-quarter percent income tax.

The Icon supports this issue and urges voters to vote "Yes."

Some background information:

For the first time in perhaps a voter's lifetime, Ohio Republican votes really count in a presidential primary election. Six presidential candidate names are on the March 6 primary ballot, although some have already dropped out of the race.

The local results will be interesting to watch to see the leanings of Bluffton Republicans. Presidential names on the ballot are:
