The visiting Bluffton High School boys basketball team lost to defending three-time league champion Columbus Grove 57-46 in a Northwest Conference battle Friday night, February 4.

The Pirates fell to 14-2 and had their 13-game victory streak snapped with their first loss in exactly two months. Bluffton is still first in the league at 6-1, a half-game ahead of Crestview (5-1).

Kyler Kinn led the Pirates with 17 points, 11 of which came in the second half.

The Bluffton University men's basketball team battled Mount St. Joseph for 40 minutes, but the Beavers came up just short in a 64-59 loss on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2022. Bluffton fell to 5-13 and 1-9 in the Heartland Conference, while the Lions improved to 8-11 and 4-8 in the HCAC.

The Bluffton University women's basketball team returned to its winning ways with a 65-56 at Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022. Bluffton improved to 13-6 overall and 8-4 in the Heartland Conference, while the Lions dipped to 6-11 and 3-7 in the HCAC.

The Bluffton High School girls basketball team was voted the fourth seed at the 14-team Div. IV Van Wert district seeding meeting Sunday, January 30.

The Lady Pirates (14-5) will face Continental (2-13) at a site TBA Thursday, February 17 at 5:30 p.m.

The winner will face the victor between fifth seed Kalida (9-9) and 13th seed Fort Jennings (2-14) Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

That sectional second round survivor advances to the Van Wert district semifinals Thursday, Feb. 24, likely against second seed Columbus Grove (13-5).

The streaking Bluffton High School boys basketball team defeated visiting neighbors Pandora-Gilboa 55-45 in a non-league battle Saturday night, January 29.

The Pirates improved to 14-1 with their 13th consecutive victory. Bluffton has not lost since Dec. 4 at Liberty-Benton.

Kyler Kinn led Bluffton with 22 points, 13 of which were tallied in the second half.

Trenton Donley contributed 15 markers, with 10 coming after intermission.
