LIMA–The visiting Bluffton High School girls basketball team lost 41-29 at undefeated Bath in a non-conference contest Thursday night, December 29.

The Pirates dropped to 7-3 with the road defeat. Bath improved to 10-0 with the victory.

Playing in the Lewis Family McDonald's Holiday Classic tournament, the host Bluffton High School boys basketball team routed Cory-Rawson 70-54 in the semifinals of the annual event Thursday, December 29.

Pirate sophomore Marek Donaldson fired in eight three-point goals to net a game-high 26 points. All of his baskets came from beyond the arc.

The visiting Bluffton High School girls basketball team methodically beat Kenton 50-40 in a non-conference battle Tuesday night, December 27.

Bluffton improved to 7-2 with their first road win in three tries this season. Kenton fell to 3-7 with the defeat.

The Pirates outscored the Wildcats 22-2 at the foul line.

Bluffton held a 15-13 edge after the first period, and increased its advantage slightly to 28-25 at halftime.

The Pirate girls maintained a three-point lead at 39-36 heading to the fourth quarter.

The Bluffton University men's basketball team opened the 2022 McDonald's Holiday Tournament with a hard fought, 63-61 loss to the Miami Hamilton Harriers. The Beavers fell to 2-7 on the season, while the Harriers improved to 7-6.

The Pandora-Gilboa High School boys basketball team hosted and defeated Hopewell-Loudon (5-3) 57-42 in a non-conference matchup on December 27.

P-G only trailed once in the game, down 1-0 early, before a 7-0 run gave them a lead they would never relinquish. P-G would go on to lead 9-4 after the first quarter and extended its advantage to 26-13 at the halftime intermission.

Playing at home, the Bluffton High School girls basketball team rallied to beat Van Buren 45-39 in an overtime non-conference battle Tuesday night, December 20.

The Pirates outscored VB 8-2 in the decisive overtime session.

Senior guard Sami Scoles hit five of six foul shots in OT to propel the Pirates to victory.  

Bluffton trailed 11-10 after the first period, and the hosts were down 21-19 at halftime.
