TOLEDO__The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost 5-0 to Toledo St. Ursula Academy in a non-league match on Tuesday, September 23. 

The Pirate girls dropped to 5-7 overall after the defeat. The Arrows improved to 6-1-2 with the victory.

Toledo St. Ursula senior Mackenzie Williams started the scoring in the 18th minute. Izzy Nitschke made it 2-0 by scoring in the 20th minute. 

Senior Lylah Willinger hit the back of the net in the 38th minute to put the hosts ahead 3-0 at intermission.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls tennis team lost 5-0 to Ottawa-Glandorf in a dual match on Tuesday, September 23.

Bluffton fell to 5-10 after the defeat. O-G improved to 9-4 with the win.

At first singles, Titan Maggie Schmiedebusch defeated Pirate Claire Blackburn 6-0, 6-0. 

Myah Bockrath of O-G beat Ari Bowling 6-0, 6-1 at second singles.

At third singles, Titan Abby Recker downed Bekah Rehm 6-0, 6-2.

In first doubles, the O-G duo of Gustwiller/Inkrott beat Willow Angel and Kate Klinger 7-5, 6-2.

VAN WERT__The Bluffton High School cross country teams competed in the Ohio Health Van Wert Hospital Invitational meet Saturday at the County Reservoir course.

BOYS RESULTS
Crestview won the boys team title with just 33 points, well ahead of second-place Van Wert (100).  

The Pirate boys came in 11th place (343 points) out of 15 teams.

Freshman Atticus Prothro paced Bluffton with a 48th-place finish (18:36.7).

OTTAWA HILLS__The Bluffton High School boys soccer team lost a 2-0 battle at perennial power Ottawa Hills on Saturday morning, September 20.

Bluffton fell to 2-7-3 with the non-league defeat. Ottawa Hills improved to 5-5-1 after the win.

Ottawa Hills took the lead in the 10th minute on a Pirate own goal. 

In the 25th minute, Green Bear Maddox Robson tallied a goal to double the lead to 2-0.

Neither team was able to score over the final 55 minutes.

The Pirates won the junior varsity match over OH, 4-0.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls soccer team rallied but lost 5-3 to visiting Elida in a non-league match at Steinmetz Field on Saturday, September 20.

The Pirate girls dropped to 5-6 overall with the defeat. Elida improved to 7-2 after the win.

Bluffton’s Willow Derstine scored a goal in just the second minute off a Mya McDougle assist to forge a 1-0 lead.

But Elida’s Lexie Good responded with three unanswered goals in the seventh, 13th and 16th minutes to put the visiting Bulldogs on top, 3-1.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School volleyball team led 2-1 but ultimately lost a five-set battle to visiting Carey on Saturday, September 20.

The Pirate girls fell to 11-5 with the 23-25, 27-25, 21-25, 28-26, 15-11 defeat. The Blue Devils rallied to win the last two sets, including an overtime thriller in game four, to pull off the comeback.

Kendall Stackhouse led Bluffton with a season-high 23 kills. Camryn Fruchey knocked down a dozen kills, and Karlie Lora smacked down 10 kills.
