The Eastern Mennonite University women's track & field team and sophomore Hannah Chappell-Dick picked up one final honor from the 2013-14 athletic year, as each was awarded for academic work by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Royals were one of 158 institutions to earn an All-Academic Team recognition.  Eastern Mennonite had a team GPA of 3.40, easily qualifying for the award for the second straight year.  To earn the award, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher.

The Northwest Ohio Bullfrogs will host tryouts for the 2015 baseball season.

Tryouts will be for the 11U and 12U teams, they will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 23, at 3 p.m.

BFR Sports and Fitness will hold a two-day girls' volleyball camp for girls entering grades 5 and 6.

Campers will meet on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 4-5 from 1-4 p.m. for a variety of skills, drills and modified match play. 

Since when was volleyball camp supposed to be fun? We thought it was lots of bumps, bruises and knee scrapes.

To find out what volleyball camp is all about, the Icon attended part of the July 10-11 Bluffton volleyball camp for fourth through eighth graders. It took place in the BHS gym. Thirty-two students participated.

Don't mess with the Bluffton Sardines swim team. They finished the 2014 swim season with an impressive fourth place in the eight-team Western Ohio Aquatics League meet held in Kenton on Friday and Saturday.

Ahead of Bluffton were three very tough swim teams that have several swimmers competing year around.
