SPENCERVILLE__The Bluffton High School boys soccer team opened its Northwest Conference title defense with a 4-0 win at Spencerville on Tuesday, August 26.

The Pirates improved to 1-2-1 overall with their first win, and are now 1-0 in NWC play.

The Bearcats fell to 0-2 and 0-1 in the league after the defeat.

Calvin Derstine led the Pirate scoring with two goals.

Carter Steinmetz and Chase Kelly netted one goal apiece.

Emmitt Kidd and Truett Diller combined to earn the shutout in goal for the Pirates.

DELPHOS__The Bluffton High School boys golf team won a Northwest Conference tri-match at the Delphos Country Club on Monday, August 25.

The Pirates recorded a winning 171 stroke total, followed by Lima Central Catholic (188) and host Delphos Jefferson (210).

Pirate Nick Lovett captured match medalist honors. He fired a nine-hole score of 37.

The Pirates improved to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the NWC with the wins.

LCC is 3-4 and 2-3 in league play. DJ fell to 0-9 overall and 0-6 in NWC action with the loss.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School football team shrugged off a slow start to defeat visiting Ben Logan 33-30 in a seesaw 2025 season kickoff thriller on Friday, August 22 at Harmon Field.

The Pirates improved to 1-0 with the non-league victory, while BL starts 0-1 with the defeat.

Bluffton junior quarterback Tayte Giesige passed for four touchdowns and ran for another to pace the victorious offense. In all, he accounted for 327 yards in offense and five TDs.

ELIDA__The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team tied Elida 1-1 on Saturday night, August 23.

The Pirate record moved to 0-2-1 with the tie. Elida is 0-0-2 following the knot.

Neither team scored in the first half. But early in the second stanza, the Bulldogs untied the match. Elida’s Seth Warner broke the ice in the 41st minute, scoring the game’s first goal.

Twenty-four minutes later, Bluffton’s Brahlen August equalized the score 1-1 by netting the lone Pirate goal.

Pirates host Elida (1-1) on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

BLUFFTON __The Bluffton High School volleyball team lost a four-setter to visiting non-league foe Miller City on Saturday, August 23.

The Pirate girls evened the match with a second set win, but dropped the last two games to the Wildcats.

Bluffton fell to 1-3 with the 25-21, 21-25, 25-13, 25-15 home defeat. Unbeaten MC improved to 4-0 after the win.
