Cairo United Methodist Church will hold smorgasbord from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the church 210 W. Main St., Cairo.

The menu includes Swiss steak or turkey with sides of mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, noodles, green beans, salads and desserts.

Tickets are adults $7.50; youth 6 to 12, $4; and youth under 5, free.

Nine different soups will be offered during a soup benefit planned by Pleasant View United Methodist Church near Bluffton. Proceeds from the event will be used for training and equipping a service dog of an Ottawa man.

The soup benefit is Sunday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to the public. The church is located at 300 Township Road 37, Bluffton.  This is just east of County Line Road 1 (16 in Hancock County).

St. John's United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton, will hold a beef and noodle dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at the church.

Persons may dine in or take out.  The menu includes homemade noodles, beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, roll, assorted pies, beverage.

Cost is: adults: $8; 6th grade-college: $5; elementary: $4; Pre-K: free.

On Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn

Bluffton Presbyterian Church will be hold a Blessing of the Animals event on Saturday, Oct. 6, on the church lawn. 112 N. Main St., according to Rev. Karol Farris, pastor.

"Local pets and their owners are invited to gather around 10 a.m., and a brief service of blessing will begin at 10:30, concluding by 11 a.m.," she said.

Cats, dogs, and others welcome – all animals must be leashed or crated. A pet picture may be brought if preferred.

Planned for Saturday, Sept. 29

The Pandora United Methodist Church will conduct a half-day pilgrimage to the National Shrine and Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The tour covers the history of the Shrine and the historical connections between the Roman Catholic tradition and Protestantism as well and the relationship to the United Methodist Church. 

Persons interested in participating can to meet in Pandora at 108 E Washington St. to carpool to Carey where the tour will begin at 10 a.m. at the Shrine Park. 

The Morse Family Gospel Singers, a local inter-generational family singing group, will present at 7 p.m. concert, Sunday, Sept. 23, at English Lutheran Church, 111 Grove St. Bluffton.

There will be a free-will offering, and a light reception will follow the concert in the church fellowship hall.
